Boralex is proposing a Battery Energy Storage Site (BESS) known as Lochluichart East BESS. The proposed development is located on Lochluichart Estate approximately 300 metres west of the Corriemoillie Substation just off the A832 between Garve and Achnasheen in the Scottish Highlands.

Battery Energy Storage Systems play a vital role in ensuring a stable, reliable, and sustainable energy system. They store excess electricity when demand is low and release it back into the grid when needed. In turn this reduces our reliance on fossil fuels and supports our country’s transition to clean energy. Furthermore, by balancing supply and demand, BESS improves the efficiency of the grid, reducing wasted energy and alleviating pressure during peak times. This enhances energy security, reduces power outages, and creates a more resilient and cost-effective electricity network
